Shaftsbury Planning Commission Meeting Minutes
The commission met to discuss a personnel matter involving the hiring of a zoning administrator and recommended the selectboard hire a candidate for the position. The primary discussion focused on brainstorming for the town plan, specifically addressing challenges for young residents, such as the high cost and limited availability of childcare, the lack of pre-K education, and the absence of social opportunities for families. Additionally, the commission examined infrastructure concerns, particularly the long-term risks posed by septic systems in the village center, and proposed strategies to improve community involvement through local events and the addition of bike lanes.
